Samples from “Tell me a story” Project 2006 November 1st, 2006

Students from 7 to 16 years of age have participated in this project. It has been great to see high school students work with primary school students and I just love watching students from different countries work together. Students can use many different types of software to make stories. In these samples students have used PowerPoint: http://gcaseyglobal.globalstudent.org.au/category/powerpt-story/

In other cases students made digital stories with Windows movie maker or Photostory. - MY MOVIE. Some students are very clever and use advanced programs but the software is not important. The most important thing for this project was for students to work together, give each other feedback and to share their stories and pictures.

Some students made a collage about themselves and their lives.

I had hoped that they would explain their collage by using  a microphone and uploading a sound file but they ran out of time.

I think the 3, 2, 1 (Ask 3 questions, make 2 comments and offer 1 suggestion) worked well and gave a good framework for them to give postitive feedback. Other Collages can be found at: http://gcaseyglobal.globalstudent.org.au/category/collage/

Mrs Guthrey has had her students working hard. There are many samples of work at: http://studentsguthreyds.globalstudent.org.au/

We as educators know that students come to us with a range of skills and abilities. I believe that as educators we should showcase a range of work. Educational blogs, for me, need to achieve my aims which may be very different to other educators. I publish student stories that my students are pleased with, they may not be “A” class work and some may not be finished but students feel good about having their work up on a blog.

Here are a few digital stories from my year 8 class. September 4th, 2006

Student Work Samples August 19th, 2006

Have we been effective in our Teaching and Learning stragegies?
Have we been able to get our students to really think?
Have the stories that our students told really come from the pictures inside their head?

Are we proud of our students?

This is our space where we can share our student work samples.

If you would like to share your student work samples then please leave a comment - I shall make a link to them or upload them.

Over time this space will represent the range of work our students and teachers are producing.
